Eat. Sleep. Breathe. Rest.

27/04/2016

I tend to dismiss the importance of physical conditions around me to my overall wellbeing. Although I am getting better acknowledging the impact of the environment to make me happier, I tend to disregard my physical inability as the cause for an unbalanced mind.

This is no news to me, yet when I'm feeling down, I often forget that my most basic needs are not addressed and  things get out of proportion. So, this post is essentially a self-reminder to my future self: when you're feeling wrong, check first if you're hungry, sleepy, or getting ill.

I know that most people do this instinctively: in hard times, they focus on basic needs.  There are the others, however, that keep forgetting this simple step (like me), so: check your very basic needs. And then, focus on dealing with that state before you decide everything is wrong in your life.

(Of course, sometimes there really is a problem that must be addressed or dealt with, but  I find that about 80% of the times, addressing those basic issues makes every problem look more manageable).

  1. What a good reminder! I forget I can be thirsty and that I feel so much better when I drink plenty water.

    1. It isn't easy, not at all, but being aware of our own needs can be the first step I think. I hope you can rest &recharge soon.

I had to learn this the hard way and I still have to keep reminding myself... Isn't it odd how we make other things our priorities instead of attending to our basic needs, without which we wouldn't be able to function anyway?!

    1. Sorry to know that, hope it didn't got too bad. I also ask myself why I need to keep remembering something so logic but found no good answers, so I'm focusing in the remembering part at least...
